CompetitionsThe LifeStyle FOOD Channel Australian Regional Culinary Competition commenced in 2007 in South Australia, as part of the Tasting Australia food celebrations, where teams of chefs from across Australia battled it out in a competition to see which region could dish up the best food and wine. The Culinary Competition was the only competition of its kind, aiming to recognise, develop and promote professional cookery by attracting teams from around Australia.
Our farm was approached to provide lamb for the main course for the Holmesglen College team. We provided 4 carcasses over a six month period as the chefs experimented with the meat. The univeral opinion was that the meat was superior to anything they had used before. The comments that came back from participants and judges alike was – where do we get more of this?
“This exciting and unique competition is a wonderful celebration of regional cuisine,” said Nicole Sheffield, General Manager, LifeStyle FOOD Channel, at the time.
Our quest to make the product available to a wider audience started then – we knew is was good, but after this experience, we knew we had something special.
